Daily Prompt: Clumsy

via Daily Prompt: Clumsy

When I saw today’s prompt, I knew I had the perfect story for and had to share.

This is a true story from my past and to me is the embodiment of my clumsiness (and general bad luck)

When I was 21 I was working in a call centre and finishing at Eleven PM and night, then had the long 20-mile drive home.

One night I had finished and had just come off the motorway around 23:30 and seen that I needed to fill the car. So I drove to the nearest petrol station, filled the car and went inside to pay and ran into a girl that I used to work with, Rachel.

When we had worked together, I had a massive crush on her, but she had a boyfriend at the time.

We stood talking for a few minutes after I had paid, she told me that she wasn’t with her boyfriend anymore. So I attempted to flirt with her (something I am terrible at), but she was laughing at all of my terrible jokes, smiling and doing the hair flippy thing that all women seem to know how to do.

I plucked up the courage to ask her out, and she said yes.

I played it cool, but inside I was doing my happy dance, I gave her my number, and I got hers.

I said I would call her the next day to take her out.

(Now here is where my clumsiness and general bad luck comes into play)

I walked towards the door (automatic doors) turned to wave goodbye and walked straight into the door that didn’t open, I rebounded off it hard, tripped over a stack of bundled newspapers, toppled over backwards into a display of Energy Drink cans. Which promptly fell to the ground and at least a dozen of them exploded as they hit the ground absolutely covering me, and Rachel, in the contents.

It’s safe to say that I got out of there as fast as I could and I never did get to go on a date with Rachel, for some reason she never returned my call.

So that’s my story about being Clumsy.

  1. 😂😂😂 mmmh, sorry 😔. Well if that’s all it took for her to never return your call, then my friend I would say she wasn’t worth it to be enjoying your company anyways and apparently she deserves a much more serious life filled with only planned moments.

    1. I like how everyone reaction to this is to laugh, quite a lot, then to apologise for laughing, it makes me smile.
And yeah you are right, someone who cant laugh at that isnt worth the time.
I said in another coment if you want to read more about my tragic past, go and read the story Second Chance on my blog, It was written by a friend of mine but is based on a story that i told her about the first part of it is 100% true the second half not so much, but yet the cringeworthy embarresing part is spot on. you should have a look i think youd like it
