A few weeks ago, I put up a post about Writing groups and asking if they were any good.
Last night I took the chance and went along to one.
It was a strange experience, and I am not 100% sure if I am going to stick it out, but I went along to see what it was all about. The anticipation for this almost made me back out. my the wife made me go.
The first thing I should mention is that I was, by far, the youngest person in the room by at least twenty years. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s also not so great for me.
I probably should have thought about this before going but it genuinely never occurred to me.
I felt like the reaper was hiding in there somewhere waiting for some of them to sneeze and keel over.
I really don’t know if I’m going to stick it out, I am going to go back next week to see what it is like on an average night and then decide from there.
The one thing was though when I was there, and they were talking, I had more ideas for things to write in those two hours than I have had in the last eight months.
So it’s swings and roundabouts
Good for you!! Im so glad you decided to follow through. I like older people, they give less of a shit what others think generally. So cool and how I strive to be, except for the really cranky ones. Lol😉

Thanks Kira, I wasnt actually going to go but i was basically told that i had to go by my wife so that i had something just for myself and try to claw back a little bit of my sanity.
and it may help get my book published

Your wife sounds like a smart lady! I agree. 😊
I wish I had a writing group. The only group thing Ive got going is a bowhunters group that meets at the range on Sundays.

Have you tried Googling it? That’s how I found this one. If not you could start one yourself 😁
Bowhunters? What’s that? Sounds like an archery group. If it is that’s awesome.

I have, but there’s nothing unless I want to drive 3hrs. Boo!
I am not socially adept enough to be starting groups and then you never know what kind of weirdo may show up. Lol
Yes its an archery group that is comprised of hunters and those who just like to practice. All kinds of bows. I have a compound though.

Yeah i get that and understand.
Thats the thing. We’re writers we are naturally socially awkward.
Damn that sounds awesome I’d love to do something like that but there isn’t anything like that around here anywhere

Ill keep checking and maybe someone will make a group sometime.
Hunting in general is pretty big out here. Bowhunting too, they even have kids programs in the schools and everything.

Fingers crossed for that.
The whole hunting thing I’d weird to me. It’s not a thing here really apart from fishing.
The thought of handing kids weapons like that seems like a terrible idea to me.
But it does sound like fun

Kids bows are barely strong enough to puncture the target ten feet away so its more about teaching safety and posture, they get the stronger ones when their older.

Ah right that makes sense. But I still wouldn’t trust the kids around here with one. They are fecking insane and would shoot someone

You wouldn’t just hand them out and say ” Off with ye, Timmy go play!” Lol

I went to one writing group, and I must admit that it was an interesting experience for me too. I did come away with some valuable tips, though. I started a Writing Club of my own, in fact.
